One of the big stories is the Mississippi Kite breeding
range expansion: nests were found in Prince William,
Fauquier, Fairfax, Arlington, and Loudoun Counties. This
is an expected breeder nowadays.
In the first Atlas, finding a Common Raven away from
the mountain ridge was a rare event. But the current Atlas
has shown that Common Raven has made an amazing
expansion across the piedmont in the Northern Region and
into the coastal plain (east of the I-95 corridor) with
breeding confirmed at multiple Fairfax County sites plus
nesting in Prince William County. (MCB Quantico).
